Let it Grow

This one-of-a-kind artwork is a set of four individual canvases, arranged in a grid to form a larger unified image. The overall impression is one of dynamic, radiating energy, due to the striped pattern that emanates outwards from the center of each quadrant.

The dominant colors are various shades of green and gold, with hints of brown, black, and bluish-green. The design is created using a wide variety of hand-made fine-art papers in an abstract, impressionistic style. Many of the stripes, particularly the gold ones, have a shimmering or glittery quality, adding to the sense of light and movement.

The composition suggests a close-up of foliage such as variegated aloe, or an abstract representation of light filtering through a canopy. The radiating lines create a sense of depth and perspective, drawing the viewer’s eye towards the center — where the the organic, textured patterns of the papers, and the stark geometric white cross created by the void, collide.
